The estate of Mills Whitaker

Mills Whitaker was born about 1802, probably in TN, to Giles Whitaker and Margaret Mills(?). He died in Pulaski County in 1854. Mills and Sidney Arnold (daughter of James Arnold and Elizabeth Baker) were married 21 Jul 1824 in Pulaski County.

Mills owned a farm that lay on each side of old 80 on the west side of Line Creek. It was on Laces Fork with one corner near the mouth of that creek, which empties into Line Creek on the Whitaker Cemetery Road. The Mills Whitaker farm included the turn-off of today's Lower Line Creek Road and the "sawdust hill" on the south side of old Hwy 80. James Cooper purchased George W. and Rebecca Whitaker Nichols's interest in the farm in 1874. He ultimately ended up owning the farm, along with most of the land on Line Creek.

On the page preceeding the below information, there is a valuation of the estate ($729.43) which was appraised by H.B. Linville and James Cooper.
