| The estate of Alfred Warren |
Alfred Warren was born about 1818 in Pulaski County, most likely to Mathew
Warren and Martha Baker. He married Nancy J Hamm 19 Jun 1850 in Pulaski, but
was also married previously prior to 1840. He died between Sep 1850 and Sep
1852. Nancy apparently preceeded her husband in death.
In the 1850 Pulaski County census Alfred is listed as a merchant. After his
death an inventory and appraisal was made of his estate and the items were
sold. I've tried to preserve the spirit of the original document as far as
possible, complete with misspellings. A question mark in brackets, [?],
indicates where I had trouble reading the original.
We do not know what became of Alfred's Rockcastle County
land. Presumably,
Fielding Warren sold most or all of it, but those deeds would have been
destroyed in the courthouse fire. Some of his land evidently went back into the
public domain, since Pleasant G. Decker received a portion of it in a 1867 land
grant.

Will Book 4, page 130, Pulaski County Courthouse.
The total value of the estate comes to $495.48 ¾.
Over the next several pages in the Will Book is a listing of the sale of these
items. Nancy Baley Price Warren (wife of brother Andrew), bought a looking
glass, trunk, a heifer, table, pails and churn, and stove. Fielden Warren
bought a razor, butcher knife, scissors, spoons, the hogs, two vials of
laudanum, bullstring, salt, weeding hoe, and three chairs.
Alfred Warren is called both "Alford" and "Alfred" within
the document.
