Special Note: The tax list differs from the census in one important way-Unlike the census, it does not count only heads of households. Two or more persons from the same household may be listed on a given year's tax list.

*On the microfilm, this entry clearly is Jacob Sr. I believe that must have been a mistake, since that would make a 17-year gap between appearance for the elder Jacob. There were younger Jacob Renners alive at the time, so this may represent the fact that Jacob Jr was the oldest Jacob at that time.

**The best candidate for this person is Adam's wife, Margaret. Why both of them would appear on the same tax list is unknown. Every time Margaret is listed, so is Adam. She is listed four times, the last in 1857. Adam's wife lived at least until 1870. Perhaps she inherited some property, although she never has acreage listed.

***There are two "Margaret Renner" listings in 1853:
1. Under Margaret's name is the following note, indented and clearly intended to apply to her entry: "same for Elizabeth Renner."
2. Entry is: "Renner Marget for W E Renner" The "W.E." is hard to read; it could be something else, but W. E. Renner is what it looks like. There is a William E. Renner, son of Jacob Jr, born 15 Jun 1839. He married a woman named Margaret. The birthdate give an age of 14 in 1853, which one would think is too young to appear on a tax list.

The only Margarets who we know about and who are alive in 1853 are: Adam's wife (b abt 1813), Elisha's daughter (b abt 1848) and the one referenced above.

The only Elizabeth of age is Adam's daughter, who married William Cromer in 1853.
