The Price Valley Cemetery

The Price Valley Cemetey is on the north side of Highway 80 in Pulaski County a few miles west of Line Creek.

Although he has no stone, it's believed Aaron Price (1789- app. 1871) is buried in the cemetery and that many of his family are buried there as well. We know at least one son, Benjamin Franklin Price, is there; a photo of his stone is below. While I have not sorted all of Aaron's land grants out yet, it's likely Aaron once owned this land and it may have been included in the parcel given to Benjamin in Aaron's will.

Aaron was the father of Angeline Price who married Granderson Renner and also of Jefferson Price who married Elizabeth Renner. Granderson, Angeline, and Elizabeth are buried at the Price-Renner Cemetery in Rockcastle County. Jefferson is buried in the Nashville (TN) National Cemetery (he died from measles during the Civil War).

If the Price Valley Cemetery began as a Price family cemetery, then it's possible both Jeremiah Mize and his last wife Elizabeth are also buried there (Jeremiah lived near Aaron at the time of his death; Aaron was married to Elizabeth's daughter Mary, and Elizabeth was evidently living in Aaron household when she died).

I'd be very interested in any additional information anyone can provide on this cemetery.

As a sidebar, there was an unusual connection between this area and the area near where John Renner lived on the Rank Cromer Road (see the page on the Price-Renner Cemetery). I'll list them:

1. Two of Aaron Price's children married two of John Renner's children.
2. George, son of Aaron, married Sarah Baker. Sarah was probably the daugther of Joel or Larkin Baker, both of whom lived just north of John Renner in Rockcastle.
3. Peter Parkey, whose family lived in this area of Pulaski, married Martha Linville, a neice to both John Renner and his wife Martha Linville (John's sister Louisa married Martha's brother William). Peter and Martha moved to Rockcastle and lived near John.
4. Maranda Mize, granddaughter of Jeremiah, daughter of Isaac Mize, married Westerfield Renner. Although at the time of their marriage Isaac lived on Line Creek, he had not been there long, having recently moved from near Aaron and Jeremiah. Westerfield was living near (perhaps on) John Renner's farm and was very close to his uncle John and cousin Granderson.
5. Achilles, son of Aaron, married Patience Jane Grider, daughter of John, granddaughter of Elijah Grider. These Griders lived north of John Renner, between he and the Bakers; Elijah's and Joel Baker's wives (and Andrew Baker's) were sisters.

I've not found any other specific areas so far apart where this type of interaction occurred. There must have been some reason (I think we can rule out church-related items as none of the parties involved show up at Line Creek, which was the church between them) for this. I feel if we can figure out what and why, I believe we will learn something of importance about these people and their lives in the 1830-1860 period.
