The Linville Family, Children of John Linville

This is a fantastic photo of several members of the John L. Linville family. It was probably taken in the 1910s (definitely no later than 1922), but could have been a few years prior.

John was born in Rockcastle County 14 Mar 1812 to William Linville and Louisa Renner. He married Nancy Mink, daughter of Nicholas Mink and Mary Parsons, in the early 1840s in Rockcastle County. She died in 1857; John then remarried to Sarah Jane Isaacs, daughter of John S. Isaacs and Nancy Bullock, in 1859.

John had at least 13 children, ten of whom are in the below photo. He died in 1885 and is buried at the Scaffold Cane Cemetery in Rockcastle County, along with his second wife Sarah (1902) and many of his children. One exception is Francis B. Linville, his oldest son, who moved to Pulaski County and is buried in the Rock Lick Cemetery.
