Line Creek Land Grants, 1845-1850

Map Index to Individuals (A new browser window will open showing the names of people mentioned in the grant information.)

The blue areas on the map below represent land grants and some land sales issued on Line Creek from 1845 to 1850. Click on the blue areas for information about the grants; a new browser window will appear, please close it before selecting another grant. Grants were patented to the person who had the survey made unless noted otherwise.

There are many more grants for this time period owing mainly to the fact the county gained control of the issuing the grants. When funds were needed for county or town projects (building a school, improving a road, etc.), the county would sell land to raise the money. There are at least two grants during this period on Line Creek that were surveyed for the "Trustees of Somerset."
